Match preview:
Carshalton Athletic nicknamed 'The Robins' under manager Pater Adeniyi have made an excellent start to the season and currently sit in third place in the Isthmian Premier Division with five wins, two draws and just the one defeat. That loss, their first of the season, was last Monday when they were beaten 1-0 at home to Hashtag United. In the FA Cup they have beaten Lancing and Kinstonian to reach this stage.
The Millers remain unbeaten this season and currently sit third in the Isthmian South East Division albeit having only played three games, two wins and a draw. In the FA Cup they have beaten Lordswood, Uxbridge and Northwood to reach this stage. The Millers have also achieved early round victories in the FA Trophy over Broadbridge Heath and Hartley Wintney to reach the third qualifying round where in a case of de ja vu they will return to Colston Avenue next Saturday to take on the Robins who enter the competition for the first time. To complete an entire month of cup football in September the Millers won 7-1 against a youthful Ramsgate side on Wednesday in the Kent Senior Cup.
Today the focus is on the Emirates FA Cup. Both clubs have just once gone beyond the Q3 round in the last ten years. Carshalton four years ago and the Millers three years ago.
To add a little spice to todays encounter it sees the return of Millers manager Steve McKimm to the side he managed last season when they finished 11th. Others making a return to Colston Avenue include members of Steve McKimm's management team Barry Moore, Mark Watson and physio Sam Codling. On the playing side captain Arthur Lee, Matty Vigor, who was on the scoresheet for the Robins in their FA Trophy win against the Millers, see below, and Calvin Ekpiteta have all now made the switch.
Ones to watch: Top Goalscorers (all competitions)
The Robins: Tommy Bradford 6, Danny Bassett 5, Kwaku Frimpong 4
The Millers: Kyrell Lisbie 7, Freddie Parker 6, Adam Coombes 6
So as always it promises to be compelling watching, hope to see you there!
