Club statement: David Carter steps down as Chairman
After a decade of service, the last 12 months as chair, David leaves the club with great thanks for everything he has done.
The club will annouce next steps in due course.
David has issued the following statement:
“I took on the Chairman role at the end of last season after our long term Chairman Frank May decided he no longer wanted to continue. Although results on the field were not as we would have liked I have enjoyed my year immensely and I thank our small but loyal fan base for their continued support of the team. It was always my outlook that the role would be a temporary one and I think now is a good time for me to let someone else take over the reins.
The administrative side has always been my forte and I will continue to offer my help on this side of things if needed, certainly in the short term, however, I will formally no longer be part of the committee.
Having been involved with the club in different capacities over the past decade I have made many friends and thank them for their help along the way. There have been many fantastic football days along the way, Willand Rovers, Wembley, Maidenhead and Charlton Athletic are just a few of the most memorable but all have their place since my first away trip to watch the Millers at Rochester United in February 2016.
I will continue to support the club as a fan although do not feel I can continue to give 100% which I currently do. For me it is all or nothing really, has always been that way. There are other interests I now wish to pursue.
Exactly what the future holds for the club I do not know. There are, as is always the case in football, a number of challenges to be overcome and I am sure our new secretary Aaron Flanagan would welcome offers of support.
I wish Kevin Lisbie along with the team and everyone at the club all the best for the coming season.
Many thanks
David”
