The Millers took the sting out of a spirited second half comeback by the Wasps with two late goals to secure victory in another useful pre-season workout. A largely dominant performance by the Millers in the first half saw them take the lead in the 34th minute. Denzel Gayle with a run at goal, the keeper blocking his shot with his feet, but Freddie Parker was on hand to head home the rebound into an empty net. Earlier in the half the Wasps keeper had made a couple of good saves to thwart the Millers with Marcel Barrington playing in a wider role and Gayle going close.

Second half and the Wasps enjoyed much more of the ball and equalised in the 54th minute, Connor Tighe curling a shot into the top corner from distance giving Max Ovenden in goal no chance. The Millers were not at their best and the Wasps threatened the goal as they pressed forward. However, as often happened last season, the Millers found a way and two goals in the final three minutes settled the match. Danny Waldren re-gaining the lead with a spectacular overhead kick into the top corner from Della Verde's chip into the box. Parker, latching onto a Waldren forward pass, rounding the keeper for his second and the Millers third.

Next up is the final pre-season game on Saturday, a trip to Chertsey Town and then the mouthwatering Isthmian League Premier Division opener at the Artic Stadium against Dartford on the 10th August.
