Three Bridges, Four Millers and a Wasp

It's some 17 years since I last indulged in a Pre-season friendly ....... a rather tame AFC Fylde v Fleetwood Town fixture where most of the "action" was a fight between 2 different sects of the Fleetwood away contingent ( bit rough that lot lol )
This fortunately was a much better affair both on and off the pitch, and an intriguing encounter between 2 ambitious clubs who have made no secret of their desires to be competing at the top end of their respective divisions
2 trialists at Centre Back for the Millers looked composed and effective in the first 45, and with quarter of an hour on the clock , club stalwart striker Marcel Barrington found himself through on goal and calmly beat the 'keeper to the far corner for 0 - 1, and on 33 minutes a great finish from inside the box by Curtis Cumberbatch doubled the lead.
Shortly after the interval , a fine delivery into the box from another of our trialists gifted an easy third goal and a second of the afternoon for Marcel Barrington , but the hosts soon pulled a goal back. After a flurry of substitutions, the game perhaps understandably seemed to lose a bit of shape and some of us in one of the stands had to start playing "dodge the wasp"
Some good attacking move from Three Bridges saw players combine well to put a few attempts on goal, one of which did go in which set the game up nicely for the final 15 minutes or so.
We thought we'd had the last laugh when Matty Vigor swivelled and turned to slot home for 4 -2 ....... but Three Bridges promptly scored again just before the final whistle for a final score of 4 -3
Out of the 3 pre-season friendlies I've been to so far in my football supporting life, this was easily the most enjoyable by far, and it was good to catch up members of my football family
