Neil Ardley's National League side were deserved winners enjoying plenty of possession but the Millers worked hard and will be pleased with certain aspects, looking dangerous going forward at times. A nightmare start for Valley saw the visitors take an early lead in the 2nd minute, Josh Osude after receiving the through pass rounding the keeper and finishing calmly.

Working were on top in the early stages but in the 13th minute Valley had a chance to equalise, new signing Ibby Akbani was fouled by the keeper as he tried to go past him and the referee pointed to the spot. Akbani stepped up to take the kick himself but it was too close to the keeper and saved. Woking doubled their lead on 20 minutes the full back Sonny Parkes getting in on the overlap and a good finish out wide after rounding the keeper.

Valley pulled a goal back on the stroke of half time, after going close the ball found it's way to Crossley Lema on the edge of the box out wide and with a cracking strike, drilled the ball low into the far corner of the net. Half Time 1-2

For all Woking's quick passing build up, the third goal on 56 minutes, came from a rare long ball out from the keeper, Sam Ashford latching on to it rounding the keeper before turning home. Chances at both ends followed, Woking striking a crossbar and Matty Vigor forcing the Woking keeper to make a good save probably the stand outs. Full Time 1-3

Assistant Manager Barry Moore in the absence of the holidaying Steve McKimm gave the post match interview and Valley face another tough but important test as their pre-season continues on Tuesday with the visit to the Artic Stadium of National South side Hornchurch.
