Message from Chertsey FC re Parking

From a parking perspective, please note our Alwyn’s Lane ground is located in the heart of town amongst narrow victorian streets.
Please respect our neighbours and NOT park in the narrow residential streets immediately around Alwyns Lane, Grove Road and Masonic Hall Road (amongst others), as it can severely restrict access for emergency vehicles - thank you!

There are several pay and display car parks in the town centre a short walk from the ground, allowing you to enjoy the hospitality of the numerous local pubs and eateries en route. All use RingGo:
- Beomonds Car Park, Heriot Road, KT16 9BU
- Chertsey Library, Heriot Road, KT16 9DR
- Gogmore Farm Car Park, Curfew Bell Road, KT16 9FG

We advise you DO NOT park in Sainsbury’s or Aldi!
Have a safe trip and enjoy the game!

Referee: Colman O'Meara
Assistants: Tom Flanagan and Oliver Keil
Fourth Official: Thomas Frost

Our Opponents:
Chertsey Town are nicknamed "The Curfews", the name arising from a locally famous bell in St Peter's church that has rung out the evening curfew for over five centuries. The club was founded in 1890 and now play at step 3 in the Southern Premier Division South Division. They currently sit in 12th place on 8 points from their opening 7 games. In their last game they gained all three points winning 2-1 at Hanwell Town on Tuesday night. In the FA Cup they beat Thame United at home 2-1 in the First Qualifying Round to reach this stage.

The Curfews have regularly entered the FA Cup since the mid 1960's. They haven't reached the first round proper as yet but twice in recent seasons have come close, going out the one before in the fourth qualifying round - season 2021/22 losing 4-1 at Southend United and last season 3-1 at home to Sutton United.

Their recent history mirrors a lot of what Cray Valley (PM) have achieved:

  • Both teams winning their respective step 5 leagues in 2018/19 and reaching the FA Vase final at Wembley, the curfews of course coming out on top 3-1 in that one.
  • After the curtailed Covid seasons both teams missing out in the play off's in their first full season at step 4 in 2020/21
  • Both teams winning their respective step 4 leagues in 2023/24 and being promoted to step 3 for the first time.

Last season the Curfews finished in 16th place whilst Valley of course finished 4th missing out in the play off semi final.

Previous Meetings:
The one previous competitive game needs little reminding - the FA Vase Final at Wembley on Sunday 19th May 2019, the Curfews won 3-1 but everyone involved with both clubs will remember the day with joy and have their own delightful memories etched in for life.

The two clubs have met more recently in a pre-season friendly in 2024 at Alwyns Lane, more details here

Today's game:
Both managers, Josh Gallagher appointed in the summer and Valley's Steve Mckimm will be keen to see their side embark on a FA Cup run, it therefore promises to be compelling, hope to see you there!
