Valley return to league action on Saturday with a visit back to West Sussex – just 18 days after a convincing 4-1 victory against The Lancers in the Isuzu FA Trophy.
Since that mild Tuesday evening, Lancing have played twice in the league – a 1-2 reversal at leaders Ramsgate, followed by an impressive display of resilience in a 0-0 draw at Culver Road against Whitehawk 10 days ago – whilst Valley have been busy by contrast, a goalless encounter in the league at Beckenham Town being sandwiched between three high scoring cup encounters.
Seven weeks since an opening day defeat at Ramsgate, this will be only Valley’s sixth appearance in league matches this season, so a vital three points will be up for grabs against opposition who avoided relegation in a play-off last season, and currently sit in the lower reaches of the table with five points from their six matches.
Manager Kevin Watson used Tuesday night’s Kent Senior Cup win at Folkestone Invicta to give game time to recent signing Ayo Majek, and Antone Douglas, while Cem Tumkaya missed the tie with injury.
