It’s 15th v 11th at The Artic Stadium on Saturday as Valley take on Haywards Heath Town with both sides looking for breathing space from those peering nervously over their shoulders at the foot of the table.
Like Valley, Heath have just two league wins to their credit so far this season, while both can look to only two clean sheets in their opening fixtures.
After finishing 2021/22 in the highest league position in their 134 year history, The Blues have made what can only be described as a disappointing start to this campaign – their only wins coming at home to promoted Littlehampton Town and at bottom of the table Corinthian.
While Valley were going down to defeat at Ashford United on Saturday, Heath turned around a two goal deficit after 14 minutes at Chatham Town to take a point, courtesy of late goals from Thomas Collins and Nabeel Ghannam.
Making his debut for Haywards Heath in Tuesday night’s Velocity Trophy defeat at Chichester City was striker Chimaechi Eze – brother of Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi – who recently signed on loan from the Eagles.

With two of last season’s promotion play-off contenders eager to kick on and get their respective seasons up and running, this could be one to watch…..
