BIG MATCH PREVIEW
SHEPPEY UNITED v CRAY VALLEY (PM)
26th NOV 2022 – KICK OFF 3pm
PITCHING IN ISTHMIAN LEAGUE – SOUTH EAST DIVISION
By Richard J Green

After a first week to remember, Tommy Osborne takes his Valley side to the Isle of Sheppey on Saturday, looking to add to an impressive run of seven games undefeated following Tuesday’s win against Bromley.
Built on the back of three consecutive clean sheets, The Millers have risen to fifth place in the league table – in striking distance of leaders Ramsgate – following last Saturday’s two goal success at Chichester City, although this record is sure to be tested by a strike force led by former Valley striker Warren Mfula.
The much travelled 32 year old has been in impressive form, hitting the net on 16 occasions in 20 matches – including his third hat trick of the season in last week’s 3-2 win at Faversham Town – although he was missing in the 2-4 defeat at home to Burgess Hill Town on Tuesday.
After a poor start to the season, Jack Midson’s Sheppey United side have gone on to make a solid start to life at Step 4 after winning the SCEFL with 33 wins from their 38 matches last season – currently occupying a mid-table position after adding four new recruits during November, including former Cray Wanderers defender Tom Hanfrey.
Valley completed the league double over “The Ites” when we last met in our Championship winning 2018/19 campaign, as well as securing a 4-0 win at Holm Park in the 3rd round of the FA Vase as we made our way towards Wembley later that season.
