Nicknamed "The Lancers" they are now in their second season at step 4 in the Isthmian South East Division having been promoted from the Southern Combination Premier at the end of the covid curtailed season 2020/21. Lancing currently sit in 13th place with 32 points having played 28 games. The Millers having slipped down the table in recent weeks are four places above in 9th on 40 points from 26 games. The two sides met earlier in the season at the beginning of October when the points were shared in a 1-1 draw at Culver Road.

Lancing are managed by Dean Cox who took over in December last year having played the season before at Worthing. He was better known for his time with Leyton Orient- nearly three hundred appearances- and at Brighton and Hove Albion, where he played almost two hundred times. The start of February brought two successive victories, both 2-0, the first at home to Hythe followed by an away victory at Corinthian. However they have since lost their last two games 4-0 at Whitehawk and on Saturday 1-0 at home to East Grinstead.

The Millers have now gone seven matches without a win, six of those ending in defeat including a Kent Senior Cup tie at Margate on Tuesday. It is hoped a number of players nursing minor knocks will be back in contention for selection as they seek to return to winning ways.
