Some nervy moments for the Millers in the early part of the second half but Sonny Black's double ensured victory to enable the three points to be taken back to SE9. This win meant that six of the top seven all won today with only Whitehawk whose game at East Grinstead was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch denied the opportunity to match them.

Valley enjoyed the majority of possession in the first half with the only goal coming from Adam Coombes free kick in the 27th minute, his shot finding the bottom corner from a central position just outside the penalty area. Chris Lewington in the Valley goal had to tip a Conrad Honore shot from the edge of the box onto the top of the cross bar not long after the goal. However it was Valley who squandered most of the chances to increase their advantage. Hassan Ibrahiym’s effort somehow finding its way over the bar from close in, just before the break, being the most notable let off. Ade Adeyemo and Denzel Gayle both went close.

Second half and the Blues equalised in the 49 minute through Alex Laing's powerful shot into the top corner, despite Lewington getting a hand to it. On the hour Valley did have the ball over the line from a corner but the referee had spotted a foul in the box to deny the visitors.

Valley re took the lead in the 76th minute a superb move started by Black in his own half, passed the ball out to Gayle on the right, who burst down the flank before squaring to Black who finished well from the edge of the box. The lead was increased further five minutes later, again it was Sonny Black with the finish from the edge of the box after receiving Adeyemo’s pass from out wide in the left, his fourth and fifth goals of the season.

The Millers played some excellent football today and fully deserved the three points. Next up is a tough looking trip to the south coast to take on fellow play off contenders Whitehawk at The Enclosed Ground.
