BIG MATCH PREVIEW
BURGESS HILL TOWN v CRAY VALLEY (PM)
7 MAR 2023 - KICK OFF 19.30PM
PITCHING IN ISTHMIAN LEAGUE – SOUTH EAST DIVISION

Match action from the last meeting between the sides
Burgess Hill Town recently parted company with manager Jay Lovett and announced the appointment of Matt Longhurst to the top job on the 20th of last month. Matt had previously managed at South East rivals Ramsgate and East Grinstead Town. A number of signings have quickly followed to strengthen the squad. These include three from Bromley with midfielder Tunji Obembe and Defender Charlie Nicholas both joining on loan until the end of the season. Nicholas a First Year Pro has already played over 25 games at Step Four this season on loan at Isthmian South Central high flyers, Walton & Hersham, as well as playing a Step higher, for Corinthian Casuals. In addition former Cray Valley youth striker, 17 year old Lateef Adaja has also signed. Former Crawley Town and Southend United midfielder Henry Burnett adds to the new signings, he is on loan for the remainder of the season from Isthmian premier side Billericay Town.
Nicknamed The Hillians currently sit in 14th place on 32 points from 28 games. They go into Tuesday's game having lost at home by the only goal of the game against Whitehawk on Saturday. The Saturday before saw them win 4-0 at East Grinstead Town. Top goalscorer in all competitions this season is Dan Perry with 25 including a hat trick in their recent 4-0 victory at East Grinstead Town. He is followed by Lewis Finney on 10.
The Hillians did the double over the Millers last season, winning 3-2 at home coming from behind with two goals in added time, a game in which the Millers ended with nine men and 1-0 at the Artic Stadium.
The Millers recently bolstered their squad with the signing of experienced defender Alex Bentley from Cray Wanderers and he made his debut in the goalless draw at Sittingbourne. After a winless run of six league games, two wins and Saturdays draw seem to have got the side back on track. Once again, not for the first time this season, there was praise for the Millers performance and style of play ".. comfortably the best side we've seen at the Jarmans for quite a while so it's a good point for the Brickies" was quoted on the Sittingbourne twitter feed. However praise does not win matches and notwithstanding the Brickies keeper Harley Earle being voted player of the match, Millers manager Tommy Osborne and his side once again were left to rue those missed chances and will see it as another two dropped points.
