Our Opponents
Erith & Belvedere nicknamed The Deres gained promotion last season as champions of the SCEFL Premier Division. For a variety of reasons including budget cuts things didn't work out in the first half of the season and Manager Matt Longhurst left in January. Former Stansfeld joint managers Billy Hamlin and Jamie Phipps have now taken over the reigns. They currently sit in 19th place on 20 points from 28 games. After just three wins in their opening 21 games they have rallied of late picking up 2 wins and 2 draws in their last 7 games. Their last outing on the 24th February finished 1-1 with Herne Bay equalising in the 94th minute after Gil Carvalho had given the Deres the lead in the 88th minute.
The Millers
It's all about how the players react to their shock defeat on Saturday with Three Bridges scoring twice in added time to win 5-4 to inflict Valley's first league defeat of the season having gone 26 unbeaten. It was announced during the week that Steve McKimm had won the Vita Risk Solutions Manager of the Month for February, making back to back wins having also won in January. Congratulations to him and the team. The midweek game at Hythe Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch so everyone has have had to wait a little longer to get back in action.
One player missing from the Millers line up this weekend will be Hassan Ibrahiym who has been selected to represent the Sudanese National Team for the first time. They are due to play two friendlies in March against Comoros on the 22nd and Botswana on the 26th, both games to take place in Morocco. We wish him well on his travels for what I am sure will be a terrific experience for the player.
Saturday's game at Park View Road as always promises to be compelling. Hope to see you there!
