MILLERS EARLY ONSLAUGHT SEALS THE POINTS

PITCHING-IN ISTHMIAN LEAGUE SE DIV
CHICHESTER CITY 0 CRAY VALLEY (PM) 3 - 23 JAN 2024 - ATT 162
Goals: CV - Vigor 5, Oshilaja 24, Coombes 35 (pen)

The Millers first half onslaught laid the foundations for this away victory, their ninth win in nine league games on the road this season. The perfect nine but to use the darts analogy this represents a leg in a much longer set. With nineteen games played the season is exactly half way and with 47 points on the board it represents an incredible achievement. Still plenty to do but what a start!

In windy conditions and a constant drizzle the conditions were never going to be easy but on Chichester's recently laid 3G pitch the weather was not a threat to the game going ahead. Cray took the lead in the fifth minute, Matty Vigor collected a pass from Denzel Gayle and fired low from the edge of the box, the ball beating the outstretched hand of the keeper and going in off the foot of the post. Cray added a second on 24 minutes, Barney Williams corner was headed back across goal by Danny Waldron and fell into the path of Kiki Oshilaja who swivelled and fired home from just outside the six yard box.

Cray's early onslaught continue and were awarded a penalty ten minutes before the interval after Michael Ademiluyi was fouled. Adam Coombes duly despatched the kick with aplomb to make it three.

Cray went close at the start of the second half, Gayle did well and his low cross just evaded the outstretched leg of the incoming Danny Waldron. Thereafter the half become a bit of a non event with the home side having most of the possession but mainly in their own half. Max Ovenden in the Millers goal had little to do all night but when called upon in the 75th minute made an excellent save tipping over a Mo Jammeh swerving in the wind shot and helped maintain another clean sheet.
