Match Preview:
The Millers hope to return to action following the postponement due to waterlogged pitches of their last two games, at home to Horndean and then away at Three Bridges midweek. Littlehampton Town were able to play on Tuesday evening suffering a 0-6 reversal at home to Sheppey United. They currently sit in 16th place with 12 points from 13 games. All three of their victories o date have been at home against Beckenham Town, Phoenix Sports and Broadbridge Heath. George Gaskin and Dion Jarvis last seasons joint top goalscorers continue to lead the way this season on 4 and 3 goals respectfully. They are jointly managed by Mitchell Hand and George Gaskin.
This is their second season at step 4 having having finished as champions of the Southern Combination League in the 2021/22. In an achievement that mirrored our own in 2018/19, they also reached the final of the FA Vase at Wembley in 2021/22 losing 3-0 to Newport Pagnall Town.
The Millers who have never beaten the Marigolds in three attempts will be looking to extend their unbeaten start to the league season and are in search of their sixth away win having won all their previous five away trips this season. They currently sit in 5th place with 27 points from 11 games.
The Ground Update:
Littlehampton Town, nicknamed The Marigolds play at The Spotsfield, the ground, shared with Littlehampton Cricket Club, has been home to the club since the early 1900's. They have recently announced grant funding from the Football Foundation Premier League Stadium Fund of over £100,000 towards a new main stand. The new 154-seater will replace the current stand that has stood at the Sportsfield for over 100 years but unfortunately is no longer fit for purpose. The electrical work is scheduled to start in March 2024 with the new stand following demolition of the old one expected to be ready for pre-season in July 2024.
Previous meetings
This will be the Millers second visit to the ground with last season's visit ending in a 1-0 defeat. The meeting at the Artic Stadium at the beginning of this season ended in a 2-2 draw. See full details below.
