CHATS COME OUT ON TOP

The Chats ran out 3-1 winners on the night to take all three points as both teams returned to league action following FA Cup wins at the weekend. The opening Chats goal came in the 10th minute when Kian Moynes headed home a right wing cross, Valley will feel slightly aggrieved as at the time centre back Marvel Ekpiteta was waiting anxiously on the side line to get back on after leaving the field for a blood injury to be attended to.

In the 21st minute Kenny Aileru replaced the injured Matty Vigor, on the half hour from a Marcel Barrington long throw into the six yard box, Alex Kpakpe managed to react to a headed clearance with an overhead kick but it lacked power and was comfortably saved by the Chats keeper. At the other end eight minutes later Valley keeper Shaun Peart-Rowley could do nothing when a bullet strike from outside the box by Sam Sene-Richardson cannoned off the underside of the bar and into the back of the net to double the lead.

Valley rallied after the interval and pulled a goal back on 67 minutes, Ibby Akbani picking up a loose ball in the penalty area to fire home, with the referee playing a good advantage after Henry Molyneux in the hosts goal had clattered into Dan Ajakaiye for what would, had the goal not been given, a penalty. Four minutes later the hosts restored their two goal lead, a pass across field was intercepted and the forward pass found substitute Stanley Oldfield who finished well to make it 3-1, which remained the score at the end.
