Valley started brightly and went close early on, first Ajakaiye low cross from the left reached Ibby Akanbi in the box but he couldn't quite get clean contact to direct a shot on goal. Shortly after Crossley Lema saw his well struck effort palmed over for a corner by the Ambers keeper Preston Edwards. The Ambers started to create chances themselves and Valley keeper Shaun Rowley was forced to make a good save diving low to his right at the near post. The hosts took the lead slightly against the run of play, breaking quickly after the ball was given away just inside their half and Antonis Vasiliou found Matthias Fanimo who turned and finished well past Rowley. After the goal the Ambers wrestled the initiative and Rowley made another excellent save diving to his right to punch away a shot on target. Valley ended the half having to defend well, putting the blocks in, as pressure mounted.

Immediately following the re-start the Ambers missed a good opportunity to double their lead but shot wide of the target. Thereafter Valley were more positive in approach and were rewarded with a deserved equaliser in the 68th minute. Ajakaiye received the ball cut inside into the box and his right foot shot smacked against the bottom of the near post and out, from the rebound he took a touch and fired left footed into the back of the net, far post. Valley could have taken the lead moments later, a scramble ensued in the area with bodies everywhere but a blue shirt wasn't able to fore the ball home. The final twenty minutes or so was often end to end stuff as both teams went in search of a winner. Defences held firm and a good hard earned point earned for the Millers with the hosts rueing missed first half opportunities.
