PITCHING-IN ISTHMIAN LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
CHICHESTER CITY 0 CRAY VALLEY (PM) 3 - 6 DEC 2025 - ATT 233
Goals: CV - Ajakaiye 53, 56, Akbani 80
The Millers made it ten points from the last twelve with a convincing win at Chichester City. Two goals in as many minutes at the start of the second half from Dan Ajaiyke and one from Ibby Akbani ten minutes from time after coming off the bench sealed the deal.
In the first half both teams created chances. Shaun Rowley saved well early on and Lema Crossley made a good recovery to block an effort on 37 minutes. However it was the visitors who were the more dominant and had the greater opportunities. Funmaya Shomotun slid in Rowan Liburd but his shot was saved by the keepers legs, Ajakaiye, Crossley and Tom Beere a couple of times all had chances and went close but that elusive goal wouldn't come.
The second half began in much the same way, Liam Moore did find the back of the net but the assistants flag was raised and Ajakaiye somehow couldn't direct Moore's low ball in goal wards. Ajakaiye though made no mistake shortly after and within ten minutes of the re-start the Millers were two up both excellent finishes as he slotted past the keeper. Thereafter followed a spell of Chichester pressure as they looked to get back in the game. Cem Tumkaya playing after Marvel Ekpiteta had failed a late fitness test, made a vital block on the edge of the box and when Miles Obodo rounded Rowley he looked certain to score but Clem Asiedu got back to block on the line. Moments later a shot from the host struck a post.
The Millers held firm and finished strongly after Akbani had made the game safe adding a third fishing well after being put through on goal. Shomotun went close hitting the outside of the post after lobbing the keeper and Akbani found fellow substitute Matty Vigor late on, the keeper making a good save with his legs.
An all round excellent performance from the Millers to the delight of the small but happy travelling contingent.

Guest Match Report - from Cray Valley (PM) Supporter Preston Willott -
The Preston Perspective
"Millers Muller Lilywhites"
Chichester City 0 - 3 Cray Valley PM
First half dominance was converted into second half goals as the lads from SE9 ran out comfortable and deserved winners in this Isthmian Premier league encounter. Connoiseeurs and lovers of old school style grounds will be disappointed by the Oaklands stadium as it lacks charm or any resonance of days gone by, but in all its functionality it is a welcoming venue serving quality burgers and boasting a good clubhouse and bar area. Those travelling by train must also the brave the gauntlet of good city centre pubs in between the railway station and the ground , and I highly recommend The Escapist !!!
And so to the game, where supporters of the Millers must have been cautiously optimistic that we could get something given a recent upturn in fortunes and the first 45 was very much a dominant display with both Rowan Liburd and Crossley Lema being denied by the 'keeper and the ball going in the net only for an offside decision to go against us although to be fair it looked a good call from the linesman
Shortly before the half hour mark, the hosts had one good chance but fluffed it before Tom Beere had 2 good efforts on goal one of which drew an excellent save from the 'keeper. It was then Fumi Shomotun's chance to try and open the scoring....... but his shot sailed over the bar.
The last piece of meaningful play before half-time whistle say Rowan Liburd try his luck with a header but it wasn't to be and the ref blew for the half-time break with the scores level and a few of us worried if we'd rue the chance to convert that first half dominance into goals.
We needn't have worried!
As some of us were still mooching towards the goal we were attacking in the second half with recently acquired burgers, a great ball over the top found Dan Ajakaiye out to the right of the box and he drilled in for 0-1. He soon doubled the advantage as almost direct from the kick-off , a Chichester player showed too much of the ball to one of our players who gleefully picked his pocket and sprayed a great ball forward to Dan who converted and in the space of barely 2 minutes we were now 2 goals to the good
There then followed a period of Chichester pressure as they tried very hard to get back into the game and it must be said during this phase of the game they did produce some good football ...... but we also produced some solid defending and i didn't feel we were ever really troubled too much as for all the good football they produced there was very little end product
The game was effectively ended as a contest 10 minutes from time as substitute Ibby Akanbi scored with his first touch of the ball pretty much only seconds after having come on and the small band of travelling support could now be confident we'd be taking the 3 points back to SE9
There was a further chance for us to extend the scoring with a lob that beat the 'keeper ......... but wouldn't find the goal unfortunately but there could be no denying that come the final whistle that Cray Valley PM were good value for the 3 points and the 3 goals over the 90 minutes with an impressive showing that can only help fuel the growing confidence within the squad and gives us 10 points out of the previous 12 available. The hard work that has gone in is starting to reap rewards
