Makise Evans put the hosts ahead in the 18th minute latching on to the rebound after Wings keeper Mackenzie Foley had spilled Kurtis Cumberbatch's low shot. Foley though attoned for his error three minutes later pulling off a fine save from Funmaya Shomotun's effort. Prince Adegoke was called into action particularly from some dangerous looking corner kicks in the opening period but was equal to them.

However the game's outlook changed completely in the 43rd minute with the sending off of Danny Waldren and Ade Azzez equalising from the resulting penalty. A misplaced back pass was intercepted by Azeez who rounded the keeper, Waldren got back to cover on the line and as he went to ground at the near post attempting to block the shot, the ball struck him on the arm, the rebound was immediately fired into the back of the net but with the referee blowing the whistle promptly to award the penalty it left the Millers to play the entire second half with ten men.

Thereafter the Wings made the most of their opportunity taking the lead on the hour a good finish from Troy Howard. Shortly after the Millers thought they had equalised following a well worked free kick, Shomotun finding Emmanuel Adebiyi whose low ball across the goal to the far post was tapped home by Marvel Ekpiteta but the assistants flag was raised for offside in what must have been a very close decision. A wonder strike from Sam Smith in the 76th minute, the ball wizzing into the back of the net giving Millers keeper Adegoke no chance, effectively made the game safe for the visitors and in added time John Ufuah added a fourth.

The visiting Wings had seized the opportunity and were of course delighted with what was a massive result for them. The Millers meanwhile were understandably disappointed and perhaps rueing the sending off which changed the game completely.
