PITCHING-IN ISTHMIAN LEAGUE SOUTH EAST DIVISION
SITTINGBOURNE 1 CRAY VALLEY (PM) 1 - SAT 15 AUG 2026 - ATT 350
Goals: S - Mongoy 96
CV - Dickson 49 (45+4)
A 96th minute equaliser following a goalmouth scramble from a corner, accredited to Jordan Mongoy with the ball adjudged to have crossed the line for the hosts, denied the Millers all three points.
The Millers enjoyed the bulk of the early possession and Ade Shokunbi went close with Brickies Jamie Grosshart making the save. It was Chris Dickson with a glancing header from a free kick that gave the Millers the lead in added time at the end of the first half.
A promising performance from Kevin Lisbie's side but they will be disappointed not to have secured the win having conceded so late on. The visitors had gone close themselves to adding a second two minutes prior to the late equaliser when an Ollie Whitby effort hit the cross bar.
Next up for the Millers is a home game at the Artic Stadium on Tuesday evening against local promoted side Punjab United.

The Preston Perspective
Sittingbourne 1 - 1 Cray Valley PM
High on the desolate plains of the North Kent coast overlooking the town of Sittingbourne there is a lonely little football ground surrounded by trees that is currently home to the football club from the nearby town. The ground is well cared for and offers a reasonable selection of covered seated and terraced viewing areas with one stand perhaps rather obscurely picking out the letter "W" in white seating amongst a green background ; a nod to the original tenants here called Woodstock Sports who sadly folded a decade or so ago
Armed with cheeseburger and matchday programme, we looked forward to an intriguing contest between the home side , favoured by many as a strong candidate for the title and have reasonable pedigree having been in and around the play-offs for several seasons of late , and ourselves recently relegated out of the Isthmian Premier but hoping to mount a fierce challenge to return with a revamped squad
The first 45 was defintely Cray Valley's ; we had the lions share of the chances and played some neat attractive passing football with Jack Leahy looking particularly exciting down the left flank. The loss of skipper Denzel Gayle after 5 minutes with a pulled hamstring seemed not to deflate us one iota, and we looked especially dangerous on set pieces with Okoye , Dickson and Shokumbi all having chances that flew over the bar or past the post
Eventually the pressure told ; and from a set piece Chris Dickson's flicked his header goalbound for a well deserved lead.
The second half was a perhaps slightly more even contest, even though I felt we were still shading it in terms of possession ..... but clear cut chances for either side seemed at a premium ; but there was plenty of good football on display from both sides
With us now deep into time added on, a simply sublime move from Ollie Whitby provided a chance to have a pop .......... and the crossbar is probab;ly still reverberating now .......... and the hosts broke down the other end on the counter, forced a corner and somehow bundled the ball in to the delight of the vocal home support.
And that, as the Mayor of Trumpton would say, was that !
We went within a whisker of going 2-0 up and in the next breath it was 1-1 and the referee blew for full time
I'm told the linesman down the far end raised his flag as the equaliser went in ; but I didn't see that and cannot comment and the points were shared. I think most folks with a Millers leaning would have taken a point had it been offered before kick-off such is the expectation that the hosts are going to be a force to be reckoned with this season
That said it was a painful one to concede the win and 2 points so late in the game , and had we got a few more on target during the first half, we could have been out of sight
Following football is full of "could haves" ; but what is not in dispute is that the Millers have played some great football in the first 2 league matches ; the players look hungry and keen to wear the shirt , and I'm confident the wins will soon come !!
