Match Report by Steve Chapman
The Millers continued their inconsistent start to the season as Sittingbourne came from behind to snatch all three points at a wet and windy Mayne Arena.
The Millers started brightly and were left to rue several missed chances early on with Chris Dixon and Jack Kirby both going close. The hosts did though take the lead on 28 minutes when Eniola Hasson squared to Denzel Gayle on the edge on the box and the veteran winger rifled his shot low into the corner of the net past keeper Carter Sullivan. The Brickies levelled the score 5 minutes before the break when Harvey Smith converted a penalty after Mal Turner was adjudged to have tripped his opponent, who was going away from goal, just inside the box.
The visitors took the lead a minute into the second half when the Cray defence failed to deal with a cross and Khavern Williams was on hand to prod the ball home at the far post. Mitchell May secured the victory when he breezed into the box to accept the pass from Joseph Boachie who had run unchallenged through the middle from his own half, to slot past the helpless Chamberlain for their third of the afternoon on the hour mark.
The Millers tried to get back into the game and continued to create chances - Dickson had a header off target, substitute Lewis Allan's well struck drive towards the top corner was denied by a good save and Turner put in a dangerous looking low ball across goal which just evaded the oncoming Parker. The Brickies had further chances of their own with Chamberlain making a good save and they did have the ball in the back of the net only for it to be ruled out for a push.
The visitors were delighted with the result and the three points achieved in difficult conditions. For the Millers it was a disappointing afternoon and they will be looking to bounce back next Saturday when they make the trip to Holm Park to take on Sheppey United.
