After consecutive wins against three fellow playoff contenders, Valley take the relatively short trip up the A21 on Saturday to face opposition currently enjoying a revival in an otherwise uninspiring season.
After spending much of the season on the fringes of the fight to avoid the drop, The Oaks have enjoyed a revival since the appointment of former Whyteleafe and Glebe manager Harry Hudson in late February.
Taking over a side third from bottom with ten matches left – and on a run of five successive defeats -, Oaks have been cut down only once in six matches during Hudson’s reign – securing impressive home wins over Herne Bay, VCD Athletic and Faversham Town in the process.
Hudson wasted no time in refreshing his squad as his first match at the helm saw NINE players make their Sevenoaks debut in a draw at Corinthian, including strikers Freddie Parker and Yahaya Bamba.
Former Cray Wanderers and Lewes man Parker has been in hot form since the move - scoring five goals in six appearances-, while Bamba has hit the back of the net on four occasions since leaving Phoenix Sports.
Valley go into the game requiring a maximum of six points from their remaining four matches to guarantee a playoff place, although eyes will be firmly fixed on securing a second place finish to ensure home advantage in the end of season shootout.
Connor Dymond will be missing from the line-up as he serves the second of his three match ban, but Jack Sammoutis made a welcome return to the Millers’ midfield last Saturday to boost manager Kevin Watson’s options, while Alex Brefo completed his first 90 minutes since sustaining a hamstring injury when the teams previously met in February.
Goals from Denzel Gayle, Ade Adeyemo and leading scorer Marcel Barrington saw Valley to a convincing win that day, but with both sides coming into the game on the back of three successive wins, Saturday’s encounter is sure to be keenly contested.
