Our Opponents

Past History
Uxbridge FC nicknamed 'The Reds' were established in 1871 and are one of the oldest clubs in the South of England. They were founding members of the Southern League Division Two in 1894. They first entered the FA Cup in 1873/74 going out to Royal Engineers in the second round. Since the Second World War they have participated every season in the FA Cup, reaching the third qualifying round on several occasions, the most recent being in 2015/16 beating Dartford 1-0 along the way. They met Cray Valley (PM) in the FA Cup preliminary round in season 2021/22 the only time the two sides have met competitively. Uxbridge won 1-0 that day, see below for more details.

On researching their history one statistic caught my eye. In 2019 Uxbridge appointed only their sixth manager over the past 51 years. Ron Clack was in charge for 18-years from 1970, followed by Peter Marshall for one season, Michael Harvey for three, before George Talbot took the reins for fourteen seasons in 1992. In 2006 Tony Choules became the man in charge, being replaced by the current manager Danny Edwards in 2019.

Season so far
Uxbridge currently play in the Isthmian South Central finishing 6th in season 2021/22 and 14th last season. They have started well winning both their opening games 2-1 away at Sutton Common Rovers on Saturday and 3-1 on Bank Holiday Monday against Thatcham Town played on the 3G surface at their new temporary home of Slough Town FC. Uxbridge's usual ground is undergoing development with the installation of a new 3G pitch and numerous other improvements.

This years Emirates FA Cup campaign began with a 3-2 win at Tunbridge Wells in the extra preliminary round followed by beating Corinthian Casuals 5-1 in the replay after a 2-2 draw at King George Fields.

Player to watch
Alex Witham - last seasons top goalscorer with 11 in 41 appearances and on the scoresheet in both their opening league games.

The Millers update
The Millers first entered the FA Cup in season 2013/14 and this is their 11th campaign. Having set the standard in 2020/21 by reaching the first round proper there will always be aspirations to repeat the feat although this of course remains an incredibly difficult thing to achieve.

Steve McKimm and his team will be buoyed by the 7-2 league win at Phoenix Sports on Bank Holiday Monday which gives them 7 points from the opening three games. In the preliminary round of the Emirates FA Cup SCEFL Premier side Lordswood were finally overcome after a 4-1 victory at the Artic Stadium in the replay following the 2-2 draw at Martyn Grove.

Missing on Sunday will be Kiki Oshilaja who starts a two match ban as a consequence his red card against Broadbridge Heath. One player looking to continue his good start to the season is young Kyrell Lisbie who is the current top goalscorer on four in the opening five league and cup games.

Both teams will be keen to progress and I look forward to seeing you there!
