Millers Ladies reach cup Semi-Final

Cray Valley Ladies earned a semi-final place in the Kent FA Womens Plate beating Bromley by the only goal of the game scored in the fifth minute by Danielle De Souza. After Lauren Henry's free kick was blocked, the ball fell to Lia Morphitis whose pass found Katie Jackson, her ball in sat up nicely for De Souza to execute a fine finish on the volley high into the corner of the net, giving the keeper no chance.

Bromley pressed forward in search of an equaliser and Samantha Sharp in the Cray goal made the first of a number of excellent saves in the 14th minute. Vittoria D'Urso the Cray centre back came to the rescue 6 minutes later with a goal line clearance. Cray was forced onto the back foot but good defending saw out the half to go into the interval with a one goal lead.

Second half possession was dominated by Bromley with the bulk of the chances going their way however Cray continued to defend very well and Sharp in goal had a terrific game. Cray rode their luck a bit at times and Bromley saw the ball hit the cross bar twice in quick succession but Sharp was alert to the rebound each time. Cray rarely troubled the Bromley keeper although she was forced to make a save from a Grace Dodds shot with just over ten minutes remaining. Late on Sharp made another save stretching out a hand as the ball seemed destined for the bottom corner.

Cray stuck to the task throughout and the whole team can be proud of their efforts in this hard fought victory and will now play Sevenoaks Town away in the Semi-Final on Sunday 24th April.
