MARSH ISTHMIAN YOUTH LEAGUE - EAST DIVISION - THUES 11 APR
CRAY VALLEY (PM) 3 GLEBE 1
GOALS: CV - Turner 71, 95, Igwe 82 (pen)
G - Unknown 86
The Young Millers earned a valuable three points in a full committed fixture which Glebe, always a threat on the break, contributed to. It keeps their slim title hopes alive, with leaders Welling just needing to beat Tonbridge Angels in the final game next Tuesday to secure the title. However should they drop points then that leaves the door open and the young Millers would need to win their last two matches, away at Glebe next Thursday and home to Sheppey United on Monday week to go above Welling United.
Both sides had chances in a goalless first half, a header against the bar from a corner and a Malachy Turner shot saved by the Glebe keeper were Valley's best efforts. Oliver Devile in goal and the defence had to be alert on a number of ocassions to keep Glebe at bay.
Second half and substitute Osamede Egbarehva went close after latching on to a flick from Turner he saw his shot smothered by the advancing Glebe keeper. The deadlock was finally broken in the seventy-first minute with an absolutely gorgeous goal. Turner collected the ball fully 25 yards out, back to goal, he turned and hit a dipping shot, which went in off the underside of the cross bar.
The visitors who always looked as if they had a goal in them equalised five minutes later, a break down the right and the low cross was turned in at the far post. Valley re-took the lead on 82 minutes Obi Igwe scoring from the penalty spot which was awarded for handball. The win and points were then secured in added time, another good finish from Turner firing Egbarehva's low cross into the roof of the net from six yards out.
It was an excellent effort from Valley playing their second match this week having won the Isthmian Youth League Cup final against Wothing on Monday.
