A fantastic weekend for our youth team in the County cup competitions with four of them progressing to the next round. In the Kent cup, two of our Kent Youth League sides thrashed their opponents whilst the U14's beat our local rivals Cray Wanderers on penalties after an enthralling 2-2 draw. The U18's travelled to Holland & Blair and dished out an impressive 9-0 hammering. Hudson Bishop, Mason Jenner, Rhys Evans and Akin Sowah all scored a brace each and top scorer TJ Dros notched another. The 16's romped to a 5-1 home victory over Lordswood with five different goal scorers on the scoresheet. Yaakaub Checkchoukh, Filip Valis, Kian Anderson gave the hosts a 3-0 lead at half time before Harry Hughes and Arthur Beard completed the scoring after the break. Skins U15's have certainly got cup fever as well. After beating Erith & Belvedere in the last round they now have the scalp of Cray Wanderers in the A20 derby. George Clark and Vlad Hristov scored our goals to take the match to pens, where we were 6-5 victors in a nail-biting contest. In the London cup, Soul's U16's advanced to the next stage with a fine away 3-1 win against Barnehurst, with the aid of two own goals and a strike from Rehuel Hunce.
King's JPL U16's lost valiantly 4-2 to last season's National Champions, Greenwich Borough. Losing 3-0 at the break, they rattled Borough in the second half with goals from Jovan and Chin but just failed to make an almighty upset. Matt's U12's had no excuses - they were beaten 4-0 by a strong FD United outfit.
In the KYL, Mario's U14's are on the march up the league. Their 3-1 win over Tunbridge Wells took them up to 4th in what looks like an open league. Abdoul, Nipun and Corben got our goals. The U13's North division appears to be one of the strongest in the league as it continues to produce tight, low scoring matches. Our 2-2 draw against Cray Wanderers, curtesy of a last kick of the game equaliser, saw us climb to second in the table.
Rob's injury ravaged JPL U16's side succumbed to a disappointing 2-0 against Southwark Residents and Girls lost 4-0 to Hashtag in their cup group stage, as they continue to rebuild their side after losing several key players over the summer.
Our Selkent sides have certainly strengthened this term. Gary's U10X team hit double figures against Cray Wanderers with young Kayden San scoring a double hat trick. I bet he wasn't allowed to keep two match balls!! The U21's made it 3 wins from 3 in the league with a 4-1 home win over Bridon Ropes with goals from Josh (2), Jamil and Charlie. Goalkeeper Olly was man of the match in the U8X's games versus Dulwich Hamlet. He made some outstanding saves including a penalty, which helped them secure a 2-2 draw and a narrow 2-1 loss in the return fixture. Mark's U13 Black's are possibly the biggest improvers so far. Despite missing two key players they stormed into a 3-0 lead against league leaders Palace Knights but unfortunately a late free kick denied them from a deserved win. Our U11 newcomers played the better football against Blackheath Rhinos but didn't have the rub of the green. They will learn from their 3-0 defeat and bounce back next week.
