AFC WIMBLEDON v CRAY VALLEY (PM)

LONDON SENIOR CUP (sponsored by Sportsguard)
SEMI-FINAL

After a resounding victory at Glebe three weeks ago, Kevin Watson takes his Millers team to Plough Lane to take on League One opponents AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.
Having secured their place in the third tier of English football for another season, The Dons will be looking to celebrate their return to the Clubs spiritual home by lifting London’s Premier football trophy for a seventh time – albeit five such previous successes were in the guise of their forefathers, Wimbledon FC.
The present Club, AFC Wimbledon was formed in 2002 – enjoying a meteoric rise through the non-league pyramid system before winning promotion to the Football League in 2011, the London Senior Cup being won in 2013/14.
Both Cray Valley and AFC Wimbledon have been in fine goalscoring form during this season’s competition – Valley hitting four against Corinthian-Casuals and Glebe in previous rounds, while AFC Wimbledon equalled the feat against Cockfosters on Tuesday evening.
Previous meetings between the two sides have always been closely contested – The Dons beating The Millers 2-1 after extra-time in the semi-final before going on to lift the trophy in 2014, while Valley were themselves victors in a quarter-final tie in 2017 courtesy of a 91st minute penalty converted by Fowler. This win for The Millers led the way to them memorably winning the Cup against Met Police in the Final.
More recently, The Dons prevailed at The Artic Stadium in a seven goal thriller in December 2019.
With this heavily interrupted season finally drawing to a close, Watson’s men will be hoping to put some silverware on the table following their exciting FA Cup run prior to the December lockdown.

Kick-off at Plough Lane is at 2pm.

With Government guidelines advising against admission to supporters until next Monday, Millers fans can keep up to date with our progress on the Club’s Twitter account - @CrayValleyPM
