Millers completed their second game of pre season at the Steve Cook Stadium running out comfortable winners despite Punjab United pulling a goal back with the last kick of the game.

The opening half saw neither keeper unduly troubled as both teams worked hard but most of the attacks fizzled out and they went into the break goalless. Valley looked to up the tempo in the second half and took the lead on the hour, a long ball over the top set Michael Ademiluyi on the charge and after home keeper Anibaba missed his clearance, Ademiluyi was free on goal and calmly slotted past the covering defender low into the far corner.

That lead was doubled in the 81st minute, the ball found Freddie Parker in the box, who took his time before placing the ball through the keepers legs and into the back of the net. Valley missed a few one on one chances as the game opened up but didn't look like conceding until Wayne Bushall scored right at the end with a stunning swerving shot from out wide on the edge of the box which flew past Sam Freeman in the Valley goal and into the far corner.

With the exception of Adam Coombes and Kershaney Samuels both carrying slight injuries all the squad got a run out and that well used pre-season phrase "minutes under the belt'. Along with a couple of trialists good to see some of our U18 Isthmian youth players getting some decent minutes towards the end of both games. Well done to Malachy Turner, Arinze Chukwujekwu and Dexter Gilchrist

The next two games sees the Millers return to the Artic Stadium as pre-season continues with the visit of SCEFL side Stansfeld on Saturday which is an earlier 1pm kick off and Isthmian Premier side Cray Wanderers on Tuesday evening kicking off at 7.45pm. Hope to see you there.
