FLEET A FOOT OUST MILLERS

The Millers exited the Kent Senior Cup losing 4-1 to National South Side Ebbsfleet United at the Artic Stadium. Valley included four youngsters in the squad including three from our Kent Youth League U18 team, all of whom played a significant part enabling them to gain valuable experience.

The opening half hour saw Valley working hard in defence and created a couple of half chances themselves although it was Fleet who were in the ascendancy. The key period in terms of the match being won was the final ten minutes of the half in which Fleet found the back of the net three times, often moving the ball with pace and energy. The first though was direct from a free kick 20 yards out by Charlie Seaman, then Seaman turned provider finding with a low cross from the right George Moncur who slotted home from close range. The third just before the interval came after a Moncur shot had been palmed away by Valley keeper Dan Smith with Dom Samuel on hand to tap home.

Valley started the second half very positive with Funmaya Shomotun a constant threat on the flank and Marcel Barrington and substitute Ibby Akbani both going close with efforts on goal. They were rewarded after some good play when Matty Vigor pulled a goal back in the 75th minute, a cracker from outside the box, striking the ball well giving the Fleet keeper Gio Bellogambi no chance. Fleet added a fourth goal near the end, the goalscorer Aaron Cosgrave and it will be them that go through to the Quarter Finals.
