An entertaining match in atrocious weather conditions as the rain poured down on the Artic Stadium saw the R's young professionals comfortably progress through to the next round of the London Senior Cup. There were hat tricks for Millers Ibby Akbani and the R's Philip Sanyaolu and a brace for Daniel Bennie. Tylon Smith celebrated being named in South Africa's final squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, his first senior international call up, by scoring the R's seventh and final goal of the evening.

The Millers were able to give starts to both Cem Tumkaya and Denzel Gayle as they made appearances for the first time after being out for some time through their respective injuries. They were also appearances for youngsters Isaiah Harvey, Elliott McKimm, Will Benedict, The Jeffrey and Harley Stuart-Forde all gaining invaluable experience as they look to make their way in the game.

It was a difficult night for the Millers with the R's showing plenty of effort, speed and skill as they seemingly punished every error with a goal to keep on top throughout the night despite the hosts three goals. Pick of Akbani’s hat trick was his first, the equaliser on 12 minutes, a lovely curled low shot past the keeper into the far corner from the edge of the box.

Next up is a return to league action and a trip to Chichester City on Saturday.
