Match Preview:
The Dockers are familiar old foes for the Millers and will face each other in the Isthmian South East this season, however the last league meeting took place in Season 2018/19. That was the season the Millers gained promotion from the SCEFL Premier and completed a double over the Dockers. The two clubs have since met in the London Senior Cup in Season 2021/22 with the Dockers beating a youthful Millers side on that occasion. Today's meeting is in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy, the entry point for both clubs.
The Millers will be looking to bounce back after their disappointing exit in the FA Cup last Saturday losing 4-2 at home to AFC Greenwich Borough. In the league they currently sit in 14th place having drawn all three of their opening games.
The Dockers have enjoyed an excellent start to the season and currently sit in 4th place in the table having won both their opening league games both at home 2-0 v Horley Town and on Tuesday evening 4-0 against Sevenoaks Town. They have also progressed in the FA Cup with a 7-3 win away at Steyning Town and 3-0 at home to Eastbourne Town on Saturday. Their only blip in the season to date was losing 5-4 on penalties in the Kent Senior Cup at home to Punjab United after it finished 1-1 in normal time.
Manager Connection:
Dockers manager Aaron Jeffrey played for Cray Valley (PM) and enjoyed a prolific start to his season under then manager Paul Gross in 2014/15 before moving to Greenwich Borough. The striker scored 13 goals in 11 appearances. The Millers finished 7th in the SCEFL Premier Division. Aaron also known as Taz returned for a second spell at the club under manager James Collins in season 2016/17 making 17 appearances ,scoring 16 times before again leaving mid-season. The Millers went on to finish 4th in the SECFL Premier Division that season, their highest ever position.
