Match Preview:
In recent years the County Cups have often been used by the Millers to give players who for different reasons are in need of playing time and / or give experience to some of our younger players. Kevin Lisbie has indicated that this will again be the case for our London Senior Cup First Round tie against SE Dons although he will endeavour to remain competitive.
Our Opponents:
It will be the first competitive match between the two sides with the Dons playing this season at step 5 for the first time in the SCEFL Premier Division having won promotion last season, finishing runners-up and then via the play offs, from the SCEFL Division One. SE Dons were formed in 2014 by rapper Andrew McHugh (aka Don Strapzy) and friends. Since then they have won the Orpington and Bromley District Sunday Football League twice in 2021 and 2022. The club chairman is Andy Ansah. In June 2024 they announced that they would be joining non league football initially in partnership with Forest Hill Park, the name used in season 2024/25. They lost out in the play off final that first season and were also losing finalists in both the SECFL Division One Cup and SCEFL Challenge Cup. The name was then changed to SE Dons for the start of season 2025/26.
Now managed by Antonio Gonnella, after a nomadic period playing at various venues, they have now secured a permanent home at The Oakwood, Old Road, Crayford, former home of the now defunct VCD Athletic FC. They are in the process of upgrading the facilities there including refurbished changing rooms and bar area.
The Dons will come to the Mayne Arena very much on a high after reaching the Emirates FA Cup fourth qualifying round beating step 4 side Weymouth 5-1 away on Saturday.
