PITCHING IN ISTHMIAN LEAGUE – SOUTH EAST DIVISION

Match action from the Enclosed Stadium
Opponents Brief History:
Nicknamed The Hawks their website provides a very useful and concise history in a nutshell: Founded as Whitehawk & Manor Farm Old Boys 1945, Promoted to senior non-league football 1950, First senior trophy Sussex Senior Cup 1951, Admitted to Sussex County League 1952, Moved to East Brighton Park (The Enclosed Ground) 1954, Name changed to Whitehawk FC 1958, First stand and dressing rooms built 1963, First club house opened 1980, Floodlights installed 1988, Promotion to Isthmian League 2010, Promotion to National League South 2013, FA Cup second round 2015.
Following the departure of successful managers Darren Freeman and Steve King at different points the next two seasons saw various managerial changes culminating in relegation for only the third time in the club's history in season 2017/18. The Hawks then suffered successive relegations to return to step 4 and the Isthmian South East. A new management team led by ex-Haywards Heath Town boss Shaun Saunders was appointed in April 2022.
The Hawks and the Millers have only met five times with four of those ending all square, Whitehawk winning the other 2-0 at the Enclosed Ground, their first ever meeting, in the covid hit season 2019/20. The Millers have yet to record a win against the Hawks. The match earlier in the season at The Artic Stadium ended 2-2 with Adam Coombes scoring a late equaliser after Ryan Warwick and Javaun Splatt had put them ahead with Ade Adeyemo having given the Millers the lead early on.
The Hawks were unable to play last Saturday their game at East Grinstead, a victim of the weather, postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. The Millers won away 3-1 at Haywards Heath Town. Both teams are in good form and occupy one of the play off spots, The Hawks in 4th place on 58 points with a game in hand and The Millers 5th on 56 points with six games to play.
A vital game for both sides as each look to strengthen their foot hold in the play off zone. The Hawks have published an interesting and original promotional poster for the game, as to what it all means.. answers on a postcard please. In the meantime "Let's go Snowy ... we have a lot of paths to go." We look forward to our visit.
