Our Opponents
Horndean FC nicknamed The Deans were formed in 1887. They are based in Horndean which is situated near Portsmouth in Hampshire. Their more recent history shows that in 2010–11 they were promoted to the Premier Division of the Wessex League after finishing as runners-up in Division One. At the start of the 2016–2017 season Horndean FC saw the arrival of current manager Michael Birmingham and gradual improvement followed with 6th and 4th place finishes. In 2018-2019 the team under Michael Birmingham finished second, its highest ever position in the Sydenham's Wessex premier League. The club were promoted to the Isthmian League for the first time as Champions in the 2022–23 season and placed in the South East Division.
Horndean currently sit in 14th place on 21 points having played 19 games. After two successive wins 2-0 at home to Erith & Belvedere and 3-1 away at Chichester City they suffered a 1-0 defeat by way of an 88th minute penalty in their last outing on Saturday at Burgess Hill Town. Their top goalscorer is Zackary Willett with 14, followed by Tommy Scutt on 8 and Daniel Sibley on 6.
Millers:
This is the first time the two sides have met. Tonight’s fixture was re-arranged following the postponement back on the 9th December due to a waterlogged pitch.
Manager Steve McKimm will be looking to continue the unbeaten start in the league which now runs to twenty games with fifteen wins and five draws. He will have options on the selection front with a number of players now recovered from their recent injuries although unfortunately Cem Tumkaya looks to be ruled out for slightly longer with his ankle.
Valley now sit in second place, nine points behind Ramsgate with three games in hand. Tonight is one of those catch up games. Michael Birmingham and his Horndean team will, of course, be keen to pick up points themselves. It promises to be compelling viewing, hope to see you there.
There are no previous meetings between the clubs.
