The Opposition

"The Becks v The Millers are normally feisty but entertaining affairs" wrote the match reporter in 2013 and this sentiment still applies today and could have been relevant to any of the previous twenty-three games between these two local rivals. A full previous results list is given below.

Beckenham Town, having been rivals with the Millers in both the Kent League and the SCEFL at Step 5 for a number of years, moved to the Combined Counties Premier Division South and were crown champions in their first season 2021/22 earning promotion to the Isthmian South East Division and a chance to resume hostilities with the Millers. The fixture at Eden Park Avenue last season ended with the points shared in a goalless draw. Earlier this season at the Artic Stadium a late late winner from Marcel Barrington gave the Millers a 2-1 victory

Beckenham haven't enjoyed the best of seasons to date and are currently in 20th place on 16 points from 28 games. League victories have been hard to come by with just three so far this season, the most recent being a 2-1 win against Merstham on the 27th January. Since then they have drawn 4 and lost 4 games.

One newcomer on the managerial side is Darren Anslow who left Hollands & Blair to join Jason Huntley's management team towards the end of 2023. A number of new players have joined in recent months with some old favourites moving on including last seasons top goalscorer Louie Theophanous and club captain Danny Waldren who of course joined the Millers at the end of November.

Saturdays 2-0 victory at Sheppey United took their remarkable away league win run this season to 14. Steve McKimm and his team will be hoping to make that 15 on Tuesday evening and maintain pressure on leaders Ramsgate who are 2 points ahead.
