Match Preview:
To use the phrase it's "like London buses" as following the FA Cup draw on Monday, Saturday's league game at the Artic Stadium becomes part one with part two to follow the following Saturday, this time with Valley travelling to the Southwood Stadium for the cup tie.
For now the focus is very much on part one with three important league points up for grabs. Steve McKimm and his team will be keen to open their account after suffering defeat in the first three games. There were signs of improvement in the performance at Whitehawk but missed chances and defensive frailties were their undoing. Both Barney Williams and Crossley Lema will be available again having completed their respective suspensions.
Ramsgate and manager Ben Smith will need no introduction to Valley fans having enjoyed some great tussles in recent seasons. The Rams having just missed out previously deservedly won promotion last season amassing 109 points from their 42 league games and scoring 127 goals. Talisman striker Joe Taylor with 48 goals last season has moved on, now with Hornchurch but Alfie Paxman scorer of 19 goals last season remains and leads the way with 3 so far this season.
The Rams opened their league campaign back in the Isthmian Premier after an absence of 16 years with a 3-2 victory at home to Whitehawk, Alfie Paxman scoring the winner with a 95th minute penalty. This was followed by two defeats 4-2 at Chatham Town and 2-0 at home to Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday.
It promise to be compelling, hope to see you there!
