HAMLET SPOIL LISBIE'S HOMECOMING

Match Report by Steve Chapman

Two goals in the space of a couple minutes just before the interval condemned Kevin Lisbie's side to defeat on his return to a windy Artic Stadium. The Millers spurned a golden opportunity to take the lead in the 41st minute, Rowan Liburd through on goal with just the keeper to beat choosing to pass inside rather than shoot, allowing the defender time to intercept. A minute later Hamlet hit them with a counter attack and from the corner the ball was headed clear into the path of Sol Baugh who smashed it past debutant keeper Prince Adegoke. The visitors doubled their lead a minute before half time when Anthony Jeffrey collected the ball wide on the left wing, cut in and unchallenged calmly slotted his shot low beyond the outstretched arm of Adegoke. Before conceding Adegoke impressed with several fine saves.

The home side's problems were compounded a minute after the break when Marvel Ekpiteta collected a second yellow card for a reckless challenge. Undeterred Makise Evans and Kenny Aileru forced Hamlet keeper Toby Bull into action, saving first with his legs then tipping a powerful shot over the cross bar. Despite the numerical difference, the arrears were reduced in the 62nd minute when a deep cross from Clem Asiedu was side footed on the volley past the keeper, from close range, his second in consecutive games. The scores were almost levelled when Danny Waldren low shot from the free kick on the edge of the box was saved by Bull and he did well to hold onto to the ball as the green shirts hunted eagerly anticipating a rebound.

A spirited second half performance from the Millers but the result leaves them in the relegation zone with no wins from their last ten games, whilst the win pushed Dulwich into 13th place but only 9 points off the Play Offs.
