Hot on the tail of our resounding midweek win against Sevenoaks Town on Tuesday night, Kevin Watson’s Millers take on another Kent based side embroiled in the battle to avoid the drop in Keith McMahon’s Whitstable Town on Saturday.
Former Thamesmead Town and VCD Athletic manager McMahon assumed control of The Oystermen early in October 2021, shortly after our 4-3 win at The Belmont Ground and with the Club without a win in six matches and anchored in the relegation places.
A win in his first league game against fellow strugglers Phoenix Sports will have lifted spirits, but only five wins in the next 18 matches has left Whitstable in 18th position with one of the Division’s worst defensive records.
Those present in Kent earlier in the season will have witnessed 90 minutes of pulsating football in torrential rain, with Valley turning round an early 1-3 deficit courtesy of goals from Rory Hill, Denzil Gayle, Nathan Green and Francis Babalola in a match also containing red cards for debutants Harry Goodger and David Ompreon.
Defeat at home to Sittingbourne (0-2) on Saturday followed losses against VCD Athletic (0-3) and Hastings United (0-1), leaving The Oystermen precariously placed leading into their next fixture, away at bottom of the table Phoenix Sports.
