Guest Match Report by Ben Kosky for the Non League Paper
Millers boss Steve McKimm acclaimed his players’ self-belief after they fought back twice to demolish Enfield Town and reach the FA Cup first round.
Kyrell Lisbie and Freddie Parker netted doubles, with Adam Coombes also on target as the unbeaten Isthmian League South East Division side stunned their opponents, who had Sam Youngs sent off late on.
“These players have so much belief, they work hard for each other and know they’re never beaten,” said McKimm.
“They weren’t letting this opportunity of getting in the first round go. Second half they moved up the gears and looked absolutely fantastic.
“Personally I would like a Football League side here – it doesn’t matter who – and hopefully get some TV money for the club. It’d help to continue the great things we’re doing here off the pitch.”
Town went ahead with their first real attack as Oliver Knight headed back for Marcus Wylie to volley home.
But the hosts found their feet, utilising Lisbie’s pace on the left and he set up the lively Michael Ademiluyi for an angled effort that was smothered by Rhys Forster.
Ademiluyi turned provider for the equaliser, cutting the ball back for Lisbie, who scuffed his shot but connected sufficiently to find the corner of the net.
The Premier Division side regained the lead as Wylie’s cross deflected to Reece Beckles-Richards, who turned and slotted beyond Sam Freeman.
However, they were pegged back again right on half-time, with Barney Williams recycling a ball into the box and Lisbie rose to nod into the far corner.
That goal reinvigorated the Millers, who dominated after the restart, with Lisbie and Parker combining again to test Forster twice before Matthew Vigor’s left-foot drive crashed against the crossbar.
Although Lisbie limped off soon afterwards, his side responded by taking the lead, with Parker holding off his man before firing beyond the helpless Forster.
Town applied pressure, with Youngs going close and Beckles-Richards pouncing on a defensive slip, only to be foiled by Freeman.
But Youngs’ dismissal for chopping down Ademiluyi – his second booking in quick succession – shattered the visitors’ hopes, with the tie effectively settled when Sonny Black and Denzel Gayle combined to set up Parker from close range.
The icing on the Millers’ cake was duly applied three minutes into stoppage time as Julien Anau sped down the right and crossed for fellow substitute Coombes to tuck away number five.
