With usual home venue Oxford Road unavailable Cray Valley Ladies made a rare appearance at the Artic Stadium, usually afforded for their Women’s FA Cup ties. Hastings United Women, the unbeaten league leaders, were the visitors and proved too good on the day as they as they romped home.

1066 is the number synonymous with Hastings so maybe eleven is the modern day rounding up as they won 11-0.

Valley kicking down the slope towards the quaggy end, the grass pitch looking remarkably good so late in the season, made a reasonable fist of things first half, despite going behind in the second minute. In fact it wasn’t until the half hour that Hastings added their second, an unfortunate deflection. It wasn’t all one way and Valley enjoyed a couple of shots through Olivia Gregory. However with Charlotte Gurr running the show for Hastings they scored two more and led 4-0 at the interval.

Second half and Hastings took complete control and with a flurry of goals late on, as Valley wilted, ran out comfortable winners.

Two difficult away trips up next, third place Welling United this Sunday followed by Ashford United the week after. The Ladies then complete their season on Sunday 7th May when they return to Oxford Road to take on Bexhill United kick off 2pm.
