Bragging rights went to two of our youth teams last weekend when our U18's inflicted a 4-3 win against Cray Wanderers and our U16's JPL Championship team beat Greenwich Borough by the same scoreline. Matt Jefferey's U18's victory ensured they remain top of the Kent Youth League North division with two goals a piece from top scorer TJ Dros and midfielder Rhys Evans. Kingsleigh Hammond's side showed great character and belief to come from behind twice to secure the points in an exciting match at Crown Woods. Jorge scored a hat trick from midfield and Chin added the fourth in a memorable game.
The Under 18's were our only side in the KYL to gain a victory with the U16's surrendering a lead to lose away to league leaders Ebbsfleet United. Manager Rob Hilton was disappointed with his sides performance as they gifted the home side 2 goals with defensive blunders, which gave them a mountain to climb in the second half. The U15's dropped to the bottom of the league with a 4-1 home defeat against Welling United and the U13 fought out a goalless with Erith & Belvedere, which ensured they remain second, 5 points adrift of leaders Bromley.
The U14's were competing in the Kent County cup but despite putting in a spirited performance against Bromley they lost 2-0, with both goals coming from direct free kicks.
We saw a mixed bag of results in the second weekend of the Selkent league campaign. Soul's U16's gained their first victory of the season with a fine 3-0 away win at Falconwood and U8, our youngest team, won both of their matches against Kekoa by the same 1-0 scoreline. Our U10X and U13 (Black) both drew 3-3 against London Legends and Lewisham Vipers respectively. The U13's secured their point with a last gasp equaliser and manager Mark Hemmings awarded the man of the match to their centre forward. He scored two and only the width of the crossbar prevented him from recording a deserved a hat trick. Our other 3 sides suffered defeats whilst the Seniors progressed to the 2nd round of the London cup, courtesy of a walkover when opponents Chislehurst Glebe withdrew from the competition on the eve of the match.
