Barney joined Cray Valley in May 2022 signed by Kevin Watson. He quickly become a model of consistency at right back and went on to make 145 appearances scoring 6 goals for the Millers. He played a major part in his second season helping Steve McKimm's side to win the Isthmian South East and with it promotion to Step 3 for the first time. He swept the floor at the end of season awards night for 2024/25 winning managers, players and supporters player. He also won goal of the season for a stunning volley at Broadbridge Heath.

Unfortunately Barney sustained a serious injury the following season on the 1st November against Lewes which subsequently required surgery and ended his season early.

Prior to joining the Millers he made over 70 appearances in the National League for Welling United and Braintree early in his career, Barney also spent four successful seasons at Cray Wanderers – winning promotion to the Isthmian League Premier Division in 2018/19.
