After hitting 9 past Rusthall and losing 2-3 at home to Corinthian the Millers headed to Sheppey looking to bounce back and that they did, in some style. Kevin Lisbie opened the scoring from the penalty spot as Anthony Edgar was tripped in the area after 10 minutes before Lisbie thought he'd scored again moments late but that was ruled out for offside. Joe N'Guessan did add a second after 31 minutes, slipping the ball under the keeper from Edgar's precise through ball.N'Guessan then hit the crossbar with a looping shot just before the break but he did grab his second of the afternoon on the hour mark, collecting Liam Hickey's pass over the top, rounding the keeper and slotting home from close range. The ites then rallied but only had a Chris Edwards strike, 5 minutes from time, to show for their efforts.

Tues 14-Nov 2017 SCEFL CHALLENGE CUP SECOND ROUND
Sheppey United 2 v Cray Valley 2 after extra time (Cray Valley won 5-4 on penalties)
Goals: SU- Saunders, Williams 42
CV- Kevin Lisbie 2, Denzel Gayle 15,
Attendance: 184
Kevin Lisbie struck home a second minute penalty after Denzel Gayle was tripped in the area before Gayle himself added a second after 15. Lisbie then handled in his own area and although Andy Walker blocked Trey Williams spot kick, Rob Saunders slotted home the rebound. The Ites were level 3 minutes before the break as Williams headed beyond Walker from 6 yards. Despite a thrilling second half and extra time neither side could find a winner and the match was decided on spot kicks, Batten, Babbington, Ralph and Bradshaw all scored for the Ites as Lisbie, Flack, Osborne and Luchford replied. Walker pushed away Williams kick to leave Gayle with the chance to send the Millers through. Gayle stepped, keeper Lawlor went to his left, Gayle went the other way and for a brief moment as the ball hit the inside of the post, time stood still before the ball went into the goal and not out of it and the Millers passage into the next round was secured.

The Millers kept in touch with the top six in the League table with this hard fought win over the Ites. Both teams came out of the traps quickly and James Collins side made an early breakthrough in the fourth minute. Breaking up a Sheppey attack, the Millers countered and Denzel gayle slipped the ball through to Ben Francis who slid in to reach the ball before keeper Dean Warford and hook the ball home from 10 yards. Francis run and cross after 52 minutes was too far ahead the Millers midfielders but Jason Thompson picked up the loose ball on the right. Allowed time to turn and face the goal, Thompson took a couple of paces inside before powering in a curling shot around Warford's repairing dive and into the bottom corner of the goal. Sheppey grabbed a consolation as Jamie Wood was adjudged to have tripped Richard Atkins in the box and Atkins put his 90th minute penalty past Jordan Carey in the Millers goal.
