Attendance: 56
Team: Back, White (capt), (Dill), Dolby, Padmore, (Hodge), Pruce, Petters, Putt, Leroy Ambrose, Knuckey, Flood (Brown), Clark. Subs not used: Dyce, Lewis Ambrose,
Man of the Match: Leroy Ambrose
Match Report:
Cray's lively start nearly saw a goal for Scott Clark after 5 minutes, who was unlucky to lose control of Knuckey's cross but H&B 's midfield cut out Cray's early slide rule passes. On 12 minutes H&B's Tydeman spotted Stewart Back off his line and gambled on the chip. The odds looked good as Stewart back-peddled but lady luck diverted the ball wide of the post to keep the score 0-0.
On 17 minutes H&B must have felt things would turn their way. Dean White, Cray's captain, who all season long has struck fear into the hearts of opposing teams, twisted his knee,. Billy Dolby did an excellent job taking over as captain.
It took a moment of individual skill to tip the balance. On 26 minutes Knuckey found himself on the edge of the box, shrugged off his marker like an old coat and thumped emphatically over the exposed keeper. Half Time 1-0.
On 50 minute Matt Knuckey blastered past two defenders with a pace that would have embarrassed Thierry Henry. Knuckeys's cross into the box was met by Dean Flood, defying gravity and his marker for one beautiful second to whip-crack a header past the keeper 2-0. For 65 minutes the gulf between Kent County Premier and Kent County 2nd Div hadn't seemed too wide. Then Paters played forward to Scott Clark, who played a one two with Danny Brown, then to Ambrose and with the H&B defence not yet braced Leroy's ball swooshed onto Billy Padmore's head for Cray's third. Twelve minutes later a still shell-shocked H&B conceded a free kick on the edge of the area. Barry Putt's softly struck kick curled through the wall to strike Rowan Arnott's upright. Matt Knuckey could not bear to see the injustice of loose ball, so he followed in to punish from close range. 4-0
With 4 minutes left Cray were awarded another free kick on the edge of the area. Peters chipped the ball to Brown, who turned and pulled the ball back to Clinton Hodge. Hodge's strike flew like a cobra from his boot, but ricocheted off the bar, Scott Clark was on hand to play snake charmer and steer the ball in from 5 yards.

Sat 5-Mar 2005 Premier Division
Cray Valley 2 v Sheerness East 3
Lost - Goals: CV- S.Clark(2)
Match Report:
Two free kicks in the first 4 minutes hammered on Sheerness' resilient, defensive shell and both were cleared. The Sheerness captain, Ben Wolsey, was a strong presence both physically and in marshalling his team. Sheerness recovered their shape and their 8th minute corner was safely cleared by the stand in Cray captain Billy Dolby. A Matt Knuckey cross dissected the defence with brain surgeon's skill, but Dean Flood , having quickly latched on to it, shanked the ball wide. A 24th minute free kick saw John Martin tamely glance tha ball into Stewart Back's arms. Sheerness attacks continued to be repelled by Bruce and Dolby. Then suddenly on 39 minutes the hare sprinted off, Sheerness' corner into the box was cleared by Dolby to Peters. A quick one two with Flood and then the ball was sprayed out to the right where Knuckey was waiting. He took on the hapless defender and his long cross into the box found Scott Clark, who'd briefly become invisible to defenders, toffee home from close range. 1-0. On 45 minutes Knuckey found some space and run at the defence, his pace was too quick and eventually he was brought down on the edge of the box. Scott Clark stepped up to bend a low ball round the wall and into the far corner, 2-0
Petters had come off at half time with an ankle injury and a 54th minute knee injury saw Padmore leave the field. Hodge and Lewis Ambrose, the respective replacements, followed their instincts forward and began to leave ominous gaps behind them. Then an 86th minute lapse in concentration let Colenut in to score for Sheerness. 2-1. Cray went straight back at them only to see Dean Flood's shot saved. Sheerness came back in kind and John Orrell seemed to freeze as Colenut went through on goal again, slotting past a furious Stewart Back. 2-2. In the space of 3 minutes Cray had been pegged back to level terms. Then two minutes into injury time, Hewitt stepped into a gaping hole at the heart of Cray's defence and tapped the ball home. 2-3

Dean Flood out-jumps the Sheerness defence.
