Going into the game Cray Valley were in 11th position /15 and Met Pol 9th. League leaders were Clapton Villa with Metrogas 2nd and Old Roan 3rd. Cray Valley had lost 3-1 on the 6th March in the home against Met Pol but had been unbeaten since then in five games, two wins and three draws.

The Cray Valley history reveals that for the previous six seasons prior to 1992/93 they had been playing out of Ivor Grove in Eltham. *
